Krsto Coko, born in Perast in the 17th century, became a Spanish
Marquise and governor of the Balearic Isles.

There are two museums in Perast, one on the island of Our Lady of Skrpjel and a museum in the town itself

The Island of Saint George
Tripo Kokolja (1661-1713), the famous painter whose works decorate the Church of Our Lady of Skrpjel in Perast.
Marko Martinovic (1663 - 1716) is a man who opened the first private maritime school in the world, in Perast,
where Russian nobles who were sent by the Russian Czar Peter the Great began to learn sailing skills.

Matija Zmajevic (1680-1735) became admiral of the Russian Baltic fleet and was one of the main
shipbuilders of the Russian Czar Peter the Great. He distinguished himself in many
sea battles with the Swedes, for which he was awarded the Alexander Nevski medal.

There are many more famous men from Perast who immortalized the city
not only for its beauty but also for the deeds and success of its inhabitants.
