Rose

Just a little more than ten kilometers from Tivat airport, on the road to Budva, turn right at the crossroads that lead to Kotor, and you will be heading for Lustica, that is Rose.Image On the way to Rose you pass through the delightful seaside villages of Krasici and Zabrdje where you have the best view of the Kumbor straits and the Bays of Tivat and Herceg Novi.ImageImageYour way then follows the very edge of the Lustica peninsula, from where you can see the entrance to the Bay, the neighboring Cape Kobila, Ilinica, Prevlaka, as well as the inland part of the peninsular with its field fenced round by stone walls, covered with olives and other Mediterranean vegetation.ImageImageThen you begin to drop down a little lower and with each bend in the road you can see more and more of Rose. Rose is one of the oldest settlements in these parts.ImageIt is mentioned in many historical documents as the settlement of Resnium as early as the fourth century. It is recorded that the place was pillaged by the Saracens in their military campaigns in the year 841.ImageToday there are some very important archeological sites in Rose both on land and at sea.ImageImageA large number of divers come to the region to carry out underwater archeological research on the wrecks of boats from long past centuries that lie on the seabed.ImageImageRose can be reached by sea. Every day a large number of tourist boats, mainly from Herceg Novi, Tivat and also Budva bring tourist to this wonderful well-preserved Mediterranean location.ImageImageIn the built-up area along the seafront where there are several restaurants you come across the old fortress of Forte Rose with a restaurant inside it.ImageImageOn the other side of a small hill in a quiet cove called Little Rose right beside the built-up area,Imageis a sandy beach which is reached by a pleasant walk through the ancient village. Immediately beyond the sandy beach in Little Rose, those who want more rest and quiet will find more sandy beaches stretching before them.ImageImageGordan Stojovic Montenegro.com
