The winter season and the hidden beauties of Montenegro

As always Montenegro.com has endeavored to make available as many pictures as possible and suggestions for lovers of extreme sports, skiing and mountaineering. Our travelogues are intended also for those who simply want a virtual walk around the mountains, canyons, lakes, forests and other numerous attractions which are hidden in the virgin nature and which are still almost entirely unexploited for tourism.

No sooner have the summer crowds on the coast calmed down than the first snows on the mountain peaks signify the official beginning of the winter tourist season.

Montenegro is a country with a beautiful coastline, unique beaches, islands, cultural riches, and the largest lake in this part of Europe. It is extremely rich in hunting grounds, birds and all types of fish but the essential riches of her attractiveness as a tourist centre is the huge diversity of natural beauty in such a very small area. This is what makes Montenegro as a tourist destination unique in the whole Mediterranean.

There are very few places in the world where you can at one time of the year go skiing or snowboarding early in the morning, and just an hour later enjoy one of the superb sandy beaches, to the accompaniment of a good cocktail and a first-class view.

The majority of tourists who visit Montenegro during the summer months, at the very height of the season, when all is seething with summer attractions, have no idea that the ideal time to visit can be during the pre-season, which covers the months of April May and June.

Those are the months when one could say that there is a perfect combination of weather and the advantages of a small country full of the surprises of nature. Even before all the snow has melted from the mountains the season of swimming and the delights of the sea is well under way!
