Lustica

At the crack of dawn in the bay, while even the hard working seagulls were still sleeping peacefully, your intrepid reporters set out on new exploits! Today's target was the legendary Lustica, Image
the famous peninsular opposite Herceg Novi famed for its many legends of pirates, sailors, fishermen, and even dynamite.

Lustica is famous for its vast unique olive groves, ImageImage its famous cheese in oil, dried fish, prosciutto, "caglje" (prairie jackals), mongoose, the largest number of churches with two altars anywhere in the world, and who knows what else...

Krasici Image is the first and largest settlement on the peninsular, with dozens of small peaceful bays, Image jetties Image and hundreds of small weekend houses, but with the exceptionally well preserved atmosphere of a small fishing village by the sea. ImageImage Zabrdje is on the highest point of the peninsula, and it looks directly on to Herceg Novi, and from here the whole bay gets a whole new dimension from the interweaving of hundreds of shades of beautiful natural colors and reflections ... ImageImageImage Rose Image is one of the oldest settlements in the Bay and the surrounding areas, a place that your reporters especially love, and which many before them have loved and many after us too. ImageImage The complete silence, the peaceful mending of fishing nets and the almost inaudible chatter of the few local people in this ancient settlement were broken just for a brief while only by us passing through accompanied by the curious looks of the smiling local people and probably the riddle "Where are they going at this time of day?".

We left Rose with a strange feeling as if we had for a moment interrupted something very important and delicate.

Zanjice was our next destination, and there is so much to tell! Image For decades Zanjice has been the most important picnic place for Herceg Novi, with its famous beach Miriste Image and then the little Church of Our Lady, Image and the beach around Arza... Image Zanjice is a place where in summer you can meet anyone in the world. Oh, when we think of the stories, experiences, memories....

Today, on a beautiful sunny 24th October, when Zanjice is almost deserted, your reporters could see in their minds eye memories of summer crowds in boats which constantly sail back and forth, and hundreds of faces that stare at this little place beloved by all... ImageImage Your reporters,
