The town of Zabljak is in the North West of Montenegro in the heart of the Durmitor region, 1450 metres above sea level, making it the highest town in the Balkans. It is at the foot of Mt. Durmitor and is surrounded by 23 mountain peaks rising to over 2200 metres, with 18 mountain lakes and the River Tara Canyon, the deepest in Europe. Today about 4500 people live in Zabljak and around.
